An
Andair duplex fuel valve is canted upward approximately 30º
for easier viewing and operation.
The fuel pressure system is located in the center tunnel area.
This area is sealed so that fumes or fuel will not enter the
cockpit area. |
 |
In the
center floor area just forward of the spar, I installed a
scupper to vent the fuel system area. Airflow will enter near
the forward top of the tunnel and is vented via a screened
scupper located just forward of the main spar as you can see
in the picture on the left. The picture on the right shows
the outside view of the scupper.
This area is sealed so that fumes or fuel will not enter the
cockpit area.

After
the fuel valve, the fuel passes through an Airflow Performance
fuel filter, and then line makes a 180º turn back to
a support, then another 180º turn to enter the Airflow
Performance Fuel pumps plumbed in parallel with check valves
so that fuel cannot back flow through a pump.
After the fuel pumps, I used a 45-degree AN adapter to go
from a 3/8” female on the pumps to a 3/8” male
fitting to the pressure switch fitting. |

Earl’s
PN 991503. I
mounted the fuel pressure switch by used a 3/8” to AN
– 6 fitting with a 1/8” pipe fitting on the side
to mount the fuel pressure switch. Russell PN 670060.
I was able to get these at my local Napa Parts store. Normally
the main fuel pump will provide pressure to the engine. At
the exit, of the fuel pump system is a fuel pressure switch
set at 28 psi. If the main fuel pump pressure drops below
this value, the Aux (backup) fuel pump will start and provide
pressure for engine operation.
I
mounted the fuel system on top of the tunnel cover. Then boxed
it in. |
|
Above
the fuel box I installed a map box for all my charts and airport
guide. |
